Abstract
The biggest cause of Services Seta’s system failure is their management. From previous experience, when new management takes over, it hires its own developers. As a result, this new personnel usually change what was achieved by the previous developers. The reason behind the high turnover in the acquisition of personnel is due to the insufficient training of employees, inefficient communications between the developers and the Services Seta employees. Therefore, the overall aim of this study is to improve the system failure of learner management information system. In order to achieve the aforementioned goal, this study adopted a two-fold approach, firstly the study critically analysed a set of previous studies that were conducted on the similar management system within various business organisations. This helped in identifying gaps existing in the current literatures. The data used in this study comes from both primary and secondary sources. The secondary data for the study was derived from the review of literature. The primary data was obtained by the use of a structured questionnaire that was distributed to different respondents (in government and SETA) the data collected from various consultations with industrial experts were analysed using deductive reasoning techniques. The participants that took part in this study were chosen by means of convenience sampling approach. This method is preferred due to its ability to give the researcher an opportunity to select participants that were easily accessible. Findings enacting from the survey revealed that the major current system failure of learner management information put in place is working but new leadership is constantly changing IT personnel and this causes many challenges. The results of this study contribute to the body of knowledge and provides valuable insight to actual system failure of Learner Management Information System. It was further recommended that an improved learner management information system (LMIS) be introduced, it is a software based application that is used to manage, control and manipulate data processes, procedures in a way that deliver greater cost efficiencies to a service organisations. It is recommended that Improved Learner management information system (ILMIS)be introduced, it is a software based application that is used to manage, control and manipulate data processes, procedures in a way that deliver greater cost efficiencies to a service organisations. Africa as a whole can benefit a lot especially looking at how this system is utilized globally.
