- Description: Abstract: The financial services industry is one of the most regulated industries, but despite the regulatory framework in place, there is still a lack in consumer protection. When financial products are sold to consumers, it is required that the products are suitable to the needs of the consumer. Currently, the mis-selling of financial products regularly occurs in the industry and despite the remedies available to consumers, this practice still occurs. This dissertation focuses on the current remedies available to consumers and whether these remedies are sufficient for the financial loss suffered by the consumers as a result of the mis-selling. A critical analysis of the current regulatory framework is done as well as the regulatory developments in the financial services industry. , LL.M. (Banking Law)
