AZU – Alma de princesa (The Soul of a Princess)
About the movie:
Set in 1780, the story looks at the life of an African woman who is forced into slavery. Once taken to a sugarcane plantation she becomes the object of obsession of a farmer with a wife and a concubine. Unknown to them, she is destined to change the order in the plantation.
Directed by Luis Alberto Lamata, Azu has won the People’s Choice Awards and Best Fiction Film Award at the first Caracas International Film Festival in 2014 and Best Fiction Film Award at the sixth International Latinuy Festival in Uruguay in 2014.
