Abstract
The concept of workplace learning varies across different work contexts because its nature and effectiveness are heavily influenced by vary employment situations. Thus, effective workplace learning requires a supportive employment environment that providesopportunities for practice, feedback, and collaboration, while balancing formal training with the recognition of valuable informal learning that occurs on a daily basis. Nevertheless, South Africa has insufficient grasp of the wide range of viewpoints on workplace learning from employees in various employment contexts. As a result, the study employed exploratory research to study the concept of workplace learning within the framework of employment relations in South African organisations. The study included fifteen participants drawn from lower, middle, and senior levels in South African organisations. The study's findings show that workplace learning encompasses both formal and informal learning. It may also involve a combination of guided, unguided, and practical learning and development programs within the workplace. This includes a series of steps aimed at providing employees with opportunities for personal and professional development, as well as training required by organisations for operational purposes.
