Abstract
Advanced technology has gradually impacted every aspect of government. Technological advancements have contributed to volatile, unpredictable, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) settings, which have, for the most part, changed how individuals, institutions, and systems should interact and collaborate with one another. This research aims to determine the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and decision intelligence (DI) in the policymaking process, towards achieving specific socio-economic Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by means of a rapid review. This article will make use of a qualitative research approach, using secondary data, which will be analysed through content analysis. This will include analysing government documents, private and public sector research reports, authoritative scholarly articles and legislative documents. These identified findings suggest that DI can be incorporated as adaptable tools and mechanisms that can be applied by government to improve on current decision-making practices and thus develop new ones which could cater for the specific and unique traits and characteristics of the public sector. The research concludes that more research in the strategies and approaches-related DI and its use in public management, governance and public policy, is needed.
