Abstract
The evolution of technology towards Healthcare 5.0 corresponding to the fifth industrial revolution (5IR) is enabled by the key technology enablers of Healthcare 4.0 plus the patient centric dimension. This presents a paradigm shift in the healthcare landscape transformation for sustainable, personalized and precise medicine. Most existing studies on Healthcare 5.0 focused on the Healthcare 5.0 enabling technologies and potential architectures and in particular, studies on their application for brain cancer are scarce. However, to ensure a seamless continuum of care, there is need to address critical challenges including system interoperability, data security and capability for early and improved diagnosis. In this paper, we focus on forecasting the transformative potential of Healthcare 5.0 and its role on future generations of medical applications developed on IoMT (Internet of Medical Things) systems by analyzing the paradigm shift in the healthcare technology evolution and suggesting solutions to address the existing challenges. We introduce the Healthcare 5.0, its key enabling technologies, salient features and analyze the evolution of healthcare technology based industrial and manufacturing processes (Healthcare 1.0 to Healthcare 5.0). We establish the potential opportunities and limitations in the development of Healthcare 5.0. Further, we adopt the model driven engineering paradigm to propose the reference model of a 5G/6G driven, IoMT enabled cancer care framework and the information model for a brain cancer care scenario. To this end, the paper demonstrates the potential of Healthcare 5.0 to transform IoMT enabled healthcare systems by integrating smart systems with human intelligence to optimize operational processes, advance sustainable practices and improve patient outcomes while addressing existing healthcare delivery challenges like interoperability. Through future projection, this work provides a platform to further explore the intersection of technological advancements based on Healthcare 5.0 and IoMT systems.
