Abstract
This study sought to explore factors that influence employee poaching at an international firm in Zimbabwe. Twelve purposively selected research participants took part in this exploratory and descriptive study. Face to face, semi-structured interviews served as the instrument for data collection. ATLAS.ti qualitative data analysis tool was used to thematically analyze the collected data. The study found numerous factors that influence poaching of skilled non-standard workers at the case international firm in Zimbabwe. The three main factors that influence poaching of skilled non-standard workers that the research participants identified are wage disparity, training costs and demand and supply of skilled workers. However, a few research participants indicated that level of industry competition influences poaching of skilled non-standard workers at the case international firm in Zimbabwe. The study recommends that managers should ensure that salaries are competitive within the industry to retain skilled workers. Additionally, the study recommends that Issue 2/2025 225 supervisors should strengthen employee loyalty through employee recognition and work-life balance which reduce the likelihood of skills poaching.
