Gross human rights violations1 do not occur by chance. Genocide2 and crimes against
humanity3 are in the moulding pot for years, each with discernible and distinctive
characteristics.4 Each violation is unique, yet certain characteristics are similar across
the board which serves as warning signals. Therefore, the comparison of the gross
