Abstract
The personality profile of a group facilitator is conceptualised as consisting of group knowledge and skills/ interpersonal effectiveness/ and specific personality traits. A group facilitation course directed at the stimulation of this profile was developed. A qualitative evaluation of the course indicates that the course contributes to the ability of the group facilitators to stimulate intra- and intergroup growth/ and that it improves the effectiveness of the groups that they facilitated. It may contribute to the success of community policing and participative management if more facilitators could participate in the course and if the organisation culture was supportive thereof.
