Abstract
Gender equality is " more than a basic human right; it is also a cornerstone of a vibrant, modern economy that benefits everyone in the long run. The digital revolution has opened up new opportunities for women's economic empowerment and can help to achieve gender equality. Thanks to the Internet, digital platforms, mobile phones, and digital financial services, women may earn more money, increase their employment alternatives, and have access to expertise and general information, allowing them to leapfrog above men ". As a result, the study's goal was to evaluate the impact of gender on household demand for mobile broadband in South Africa. The findings of the logistic regression show that gender has a substantial impact on household demand for mobile broadband in South Africa. The findings revealed that being a man is related to a higher likelihood of demand for mobile broadband than being a woman. Males had 1.812 times more chances of wanting mobile broadband than females. The fact that males were more likely than females to have access to internet services could be explained by inequalities in access to income between males and females because of economic classes created by the nature and structure of the economy. As a result, the study suggests that to boost productivity, economic prosperity, and the quality of life of people, particularly women, the government should try to come up with initiatives that encourage women to be able to use mobile broadband.
