Abstract
The study’s aim was to explore the challenges faced by female leaders and how such difficulties impact their decision-making styles. The study also sought to identify the many leadership roles that women adopt and the various decision-making styles that they employ while they still face such challenges. Within an interpretative paradigm, a qualitative research approach was used to perform the study. The participants were interviewed in a semi-structured manner to elicit insights. Different challenges that women leaders experiences in their careers were highlighted by the study. Some include unconscious bias, lack of respect and recognition, patriarchy, discrimination, societal expectations, and lack of mentorship. The research findings indicate that these challenges possess the capacity to adversely impact the decision-making approaches that female leaders opt to utilize. Thus, the study’s findings support the notion that women leaders face a variety of challenges that may negatively impact the type of decision-making they choose.
