Abstract

Artificial Intelligence Pharmaceutical warehousing Supply chain · Machine learning
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a transformative force in pharmaceutical warehousing, reshaping how medicines are stored, managed, and distributed across increasingly complex global supply chains. By integrat-ing robotics, machine learning, predictive analytics, and blockchain technolo-gies, AI enables real-time monitoring, intelligent inventory control, and en-hanced decision-making, thereby improving efficiency, accuracy, and resilience in pharmaceutical logistics. The purpose of this article is to investigate the evolving research landscape of AI adoption in pharmaceutical warehousing, a sector that plays a critical role in ensuring the availability, quality assurance, and resilience of medicines in highly regulated supply chains, through a Bibli-ometric-Systematic Literature Review (B-SLR). The study maps publication trends, influential sources, and leading institutions over the period 2017–2025, a timeframe selected to capture the most recent wave of AI-driven logistics inno-vations following the rise of Industry 4.0 and the post-pandemic acceleration of digital transformation in healthcare supply chains. Results reveal a sharp in-crease in scholarly output since 2022, underscoring the growing importance of AI-driven warehousing in both academic and practical contexts. The study iden-tifies dominant themes such as forecasting accuracy, inventory optimisation, and digital transformation, while also highlighting emerging areas including In-dustry 5.0, augmented analytics, and blockchain-supported inventory sharing. In addition to charting the intellectual structure of the field, the study outlines future research directions and discusses challenges related to data governance, regulatory compliance, and workforce adaptation. The findings provide valua-ble insights for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers seeking to harness AI’s potential in developing more efficient, transparent, and patient-centric pharmaceutical supply chains.
