Abstract
This article focuses on children’s literature in South Africa, looking at an overview of some
aspects of its landscape in indigenous languages. It investigates different platforms that
advocate for the use of this literature and its development. The works of some literary
organizations as well as some publishing houses are also highlighted in terms of the role they
play in the literacy space. It has been observed that children’s literature in indigenous languages
is only beginning to make some strides, relying heavily on translations of available materials.
There seems to be a similarity with the work being done by these organizations and, hopefully,
somehow there can be some collaboration amongst most of them.
