Abstract
The place of football in transforming global history and social interaction cannot be neglected from one part of the globe to another. It is a major driver of national and communal development in many parts of the globe. This study used primary data and secondary materials collected from oral interviews and published sources to develop the growth and impact of football on Umueze community in Igboland Nigeria. The study found that sons and daughters of Umueze return from all over the world and interact with their people as well as invest in community development during the period of the football competition. It recommends continued transformation of the football competition as a source of societal development.
