Abstract
Work identity has become a topic of interest within the world of work. As South Africa is a developing country, it has yet to validate or adapt a measure of work identity and work commitment. With the cultural diversity in South Africa, it is important that the measure should be validated to the South African population before any psychometric measure is imposed. Therefore, this study measures the validity of the Tilburg Work Identity Scale of Commitment and Reconsideration of Commitment (TWIS-CRC) using a South African sample. A quantitative, cross-sectional survey design was obtained from the South African population (N = 117). The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) results show support for the two-factor model of the TWIS-CRC Scale. The instrument may therefore be used in the South African context.
