Abstract
Abstract : This dissertation analysis circumstances under which free legal services should be provided in civil cases, the current legislative framework, interpretation of the right in section 34, limitation of the right and international law on legal representation. Currently the right to legal representation in criminal cases is guaranteed in section 35 (3)(g) of the Constitution and no such Constitutional guarantee in civil cases. In this dissertation I argue circumstances where free legal services should be provided in civil cases.
