This research aims to study the factors that affect the editing and translation processes that are implemented in language offices in organisations such as government departments, banks and statutory bodies, with a view to drafting a proposed language management model for effective language practice, one that supports the efficient operationalisation of government‟s multilingual policy and is able to provide solutions to problems and measures for the optimal functioning of these language offices in future.
The study focuses on language practitioners and their managers in these language offices. These language practitioners and managers act as a sample of the population, namely all the language practitioners and managers in similar language offices in South Africa.1
There is currently a perceived gap between the environment in which language practitioners are trained and practice in the workplace.
