The purpose of this study will be to examine the relationship between leadership styles and empowerment of secondary school teachers in public schools in the Gauteng
region. Personal characteristics of the participants' background information on working in collaboration with their principals and with one another as teams in a process
of continuous improvement, will be examined to determine the effects these have on the leadership style. The examination of background information in this study is
important because it attempts to determine the influence of total quality management on the empowerment of teachers.
