Abstract
This dissertation is an analysis of the Social and Ethics Committee and the role the committee plays in the monitoring and reporting of non-compliance with environmental legislation as perpetrated by the companies to which these committees belong. The dissertation specifically looks at the reports provided by the Social and Ethics Committees of Eskom, ArcelorMittal and Sasol in order to assess whether or not these reports and the recommendations of such committees bear any influence on the company’s environmental behaviour.
