Abstract
our day-to-day lives, food is one of the significant basic needs that every human being requires for survival. This dissertation aims to examine the hunger problem in South Africa turning into a major health crisis and the implication on the stability of South Africa and Africa in general. Hunger results from food insecurity and hinders the achievement of good health and well-being. The study findings indicate that there is a strong connection between hunger and chronic diseases like high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes. Hunger results from food insecurity and hinders the achievement of good health and well-being. The study found that a South African population still faces food insecurity despite food being produced sufficiently at the national level. The implication of this is that if the trend is not prevented as quickly as possible it is a time bomb that may pose grave security risks and danger to the country and the African region being the most populous black nation. To prevent this, the immediate causes of the rising food insecurity affect the health and well-being of the people. The study found that the application of the block chain technology to both the healthcare and agriculture sector is timely and beneficial. The study found that blockchain technology can promote the transparency and accountability needed for the country to achieve food security. Blockchain technology can promote good governance in those sectors and can address corruption issues found, to hinder the achievement of zero hunger and good health and well-being. The SDGs aim to improve the world and free it from hunger, poverty, and diseases burden. The study recommended that blockchain technology can also be used to fight climate change, address gender imbalances, and ensure zero hunger and good health and well-being goals are achieved by 2030. To achieve the above assertions, the study adopted a qualitative research methodology with an exploratory approach based on the secondary data taken from desktop research.
