Abstract
This study examines how school leadership at Luna Academy fosters teacher wellness by cultivating a supportive school culture. Teacher wellness, encompassing physical, emotional, and psychological well-being, is influenced by school leadership and is closely linked to job satisfaction, retention, and overall school performance. The research explores how leadership practices contribute to a positive environment that supports teacher wellness. Using qualitative methods, the study involved interviews with five school management team members and surveys with five teachers to identify leadership strategies that promote well-being and professional growth.
At Luna Academy, part of a larger corporate group, teacher wellness has gained focus due to its impact on staff satisfaction and school performance. While wellness programs have been implemented, challenges remain, such as limited awareness, stigma, and time constraints that prevent teachers from fully utilizing available services. These barriers reflect broader trends in education, where access to wellness resources does not always translate into their use.
The study highlights that proactive leadership, marked by clear communication, inclusive decision-making, and supportive policies, is essential for fostering a positive school culture. A healthy school culture not only supports teacher wellness but also enhances job satisfaction, professional development, and overall school performance. Providing professional development and mental health support is critical to addressing teachers’ diverse needs.
The findings align with existing frameworks that link supportive leadership to improved teacher performance and student outcomes. The study emphasizes the importance of leadership strategies in creating a work environment that prioritizes teacher well-being, contributing to enhanced educational success and institutional sustainability. By integrating well-being models with leadership practices, the study provides practical recommendations for school leaders, emphasizing the need to prioritize teacher wellness for long-term success.
