Abstract
The objective of this study was to determine if organisational climate factors influence
the intrapreneurial behaviour dimensions of employees in a bank in South Africa. A
quantitative research design was adopted in this study, and the research data was
collected from a sample of 100 bank employees working in a retail banking department
in Johannesburg. Furthermore, the hypotheses were tested through regression
analysis. The results and findings of the study indicate that the majority of the
hypotheses are unsupported. However, it was discovered that management support
influences the innovativeness of employees, work discretion influences the
proactiveness of employees and rewards/reinforcement and time availability influence
the risk-taking propensity of employees. Organisational boundaries did not influence
any of the intrapreneurial behaviour dimensions. The results can be helpful to
managers to instil the factors that drive intrapreneurial behaviour in their organisations.
This study contributes to the understanding of the individual-level factors that facilitate
intrapreneurial behaviours.
