The general purpose of this study is to examine whether a correlation exists between emotional intelligence (EI) and leadership style. This research is conducted in an effort to build upon the current knowledge base on the subject of emotional intelligence. This study provides much needed empirical evidence on the correlation that exists between EI and leadership style selection and therefore overall leadership effectiveness. A better understanding of emotional intelligence and the correlation to leadership styles will address the gaps that currently exist in the literature and provide a more educated link between theory and practice.
