South Africa has encountered prodigious numbers of educational challenges Post-
Apartheid, at the same time as striving towards a culture of democracy. SASA
declares that there is a great deal of emphasis placed on South African schools and
how they conduct and execute practices within schools. The execution and
solicitation of discipline is a significant attribute to conducive and positive teaching
and learning. Schools in South African have been assigned the task of being
accountable for each pupil, by means of positive classroom practices and the
educative process. By ensuring robust classroom practices and a curative process
learners will begin to acknowledge and understand the need in our society to have
rules and regulations.
SMT’s and SGB’s of a school communicate the rules and regulations to the teaching
staff, parents and learners in order to encourage and reassure a conducive, dynamic
and valuable learning environment. SASA also stipulates that school’s SGBs’ must
embolden and assure rules, as it is these rules that will affect the process and
deliverance of teaching and learning, thus affecting the pedagogic setting. White
Paper 6 brings forth the notion of In Loco Parentis within a classroom context,
making it beneficial in enforcing discipline. Educative staff within a school setting
ought to understand that a positive environment is conducive to effective and active
teaching and learning.
The primary function of any school is to manage and support the school and its
learners. Education is a critical stage in any child’s development, as education is
indispensable for the growth of practical and real-world civilisations with immaculate
democratic identifications. The school setting is a multidimensional environment that
may be observed as a diverse and objective orientated institution that aims to create
individuals who succeed in their future and uphold the country.
An immediate challenge is crucial to abide by the laws set out in the Bill of Rights, it
