Willem Boshoff is considered one of the important exponents of conceptual art in
South Africa. In a career spanning almost 40 years, he has gained recognition on the
basis of his arresting language-based artworks, which in various ways commands the
attention of viewers. In contrast to the trend in the early stages of the international
conceptual art movement to promote the conceptual at the expense of the material
