Abstract
This research explores the often-overlooked link between spirituality and the development of soft skills among employees in the workplace. Soft skills, encompassing interpersonal, communication, and emotional intelligence, are increasingly recognized as pivotal to professional success and organizational effectiveness. The study employs a qualitative approach using an interpretivist philosophy and phenomenological paradigm to explore how spirituality influences the development of workplace soft skills.
Preliminary findings indicate a positive correlation between individuals who perceive their work as aligned with personal values and the development of soft skills. The study further investigates the role of workplace spirituality initiatives, mindfulness programs, and ethical leadership in fostering an environment conducive to soft skills enhancement. The study found a strong link between spirituality and behaviour, as participants engaged in reflective practices, meditation, prayer, and grounding activities. Participants highlighted the impact of spirituality on fostering connectedness within their teams and with others. Through spirituality, participants demonstrated increased awareness, care, and a desire to help others, enhancing their connection with their teams. The study emphasized the importance of aligning personal and organizational goals for effective employee development. Participants, recognizing the significance of human capital, outlined various strategies to enhance organizational performance, including mentoring and coaching. In addition, the study reveals that Teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability, leadership qualities, and employee development are all recognized as integral aspects of a productive and harmonious workplace. The study emphasizes the high value placed on soft skills in modern workplaces. The findings underline the need for organizations to invest in soft skills training and create environments that encourage ongoing development, address challenges, and foster a culture of continuous personal and professional learning. The study recommends integrating reflective practices and grounding activities for a spiritually inclusive workplace, emphasizing spirituality's role in fostering team connectedness. It suggests implementing team-building activities with spiritual elements to promote unity and collaboration. Additionally, the study proposed a
