Abstract
Apartheid in South Africa did more to the society and the people of South Africa than to merely separate people on grounds of their race. It caused societal 1 dysfunctionalities. Amongst other, the dysfunctionality caused is one between men 2 and women, women being disadvantaged and oppressed. From the time Apartheid 3 4 was declared a crime against humanity through the time of democracy in South Africa, to current, a consistent failure to deal with Sexual Gender-Based Violence (“SGBV”) is evident. It is noted that victims of SGBV in Africa are currently sitting 5 with scars of crimes committed to them while some of the perpetrators sit in 6 positions of authority and are affluent thus have not been held accountable for any such actions...
