Abstract
In order for ground vehicles to adapt their driving strategies and maximise their performance, they need to be able to detect the terrain they are currently manoeuvring, classify it and then adjust their driving controls to adapt to the type of terrain they are traversing. The ability for ground vehicles to classify the terrain they are traversing or have previously traversed is also beneficial for remote sensing as this information can be used to enhance existing soil maps and Geographical Information System(GIS) prediction accuracy...
