Abstract
Organisations exist to provide clients with products and services; some of these products and services rely on information and communication technology to be created or given. Organisations conduct information technology projects to address obstacles that restrict them from producing higher quality products and services. The research assesses project managers’ perceptions on critical success factors in the implementation of information and communication technology projects. The study goals address the success factors that influence the implementation of IT projects in relation to their importance and the extent to which organisations implement them.
The study also needed to evaluate the relationship between the variables. In this study, a literature review was undertaken to delineate the research objectives. The banking business has a lot of IT projects that are carried out; therefore, a well-known South African bank was chosen for data collecting. The quantitative method was used in the study, with a structured questionnaire. IT professionals and IT project managers were chosen at random to provide their opinions on the critical success factors of: effective communication, top management, stakeholder buy-in, project manager commitment, competency of project managers, solid budgets and project plans, a clearly defined project scope, clearly defined project objectives and goals, user involvement, user training, and customer satisfaction. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to assess project manager perspectives at the present moment.
The research reveals that the strength of the relationship between the importance and the extent to which these important success factors were used was very strong across the board for the most of the success factors. The outcomes of the study verified the significance of critical success factors that project managers should consider when beginning on project efforts. IT professionals and project managers in charge of ICT projects in organisations were involved in the empirical study. Structured questionnaires were used in the research. The study findings revealed project managers’ perceptions of the importance and extent to which critical success factors are applied while implementing initiatives in organisations.
This minor dissertation presents the viewpoints of project managers and organisations on important success factors. The study indicates that project managers and IT
