Abstract
It is no new fact that the mining industry plays a pivotal role in the circulation of wealth and raw material to the global economies and other industries. More so in South Africa, mining appears as a magnet for attracting foreign investments and establishing leading international ventures. However, the effect of environmental dilapidation, as well as socio-economic complications in beneficiary communities has been an attribute of the mining industry despite several measures aimed at eradicating negative impacts caused by mining activities.
