Abstract
There is an ongoing desire to make health care more patient-centered. Patient-centered Care (PCC) is recognised worldwide as a fundamental base for quality patient care as there is growing evidence supporting the provision of PCC. PCC is a form of care that requires the health care provider to consider the condition of the patient, the process of the condition and most importantly, the patients experience of the condition. With this shared decision-making and the psychosocial context which improves care and treatment outcomes from both perspectives. The patient-centered clinical method (PCCM) is a conceptual framework for proving PCC. A revision of the PCCM framework led to a need to enhance the Patient Perception of Patient-Centeredness (PPPC) questionnaire, resulting in the Patient Perception of Patient-Centeredness- Revised (PPPC-R) questionnaire. The original PPPC was aligned with the components of the PCCM conceptual framework and was developed to measure patient-centeredness from the patients’ perspective.
