South Africa has gone through extensive constitutional changes and the
institution of a bill of rights for the protection of basic human rights is a certainty.
A bill of rights is an essentially constitutional document, formulating and
protecting the basic rights and freedoms of the individual concerning the state.
It is, therefore, necessary to familiarize pupils with the nature and content of
their basic human rights, since we live in a country with a bill of rights.
