Abstract

This study analysed the online security features on the websites of the domestic airlines that operate within South Africa. Literature on the use of the internet globally and in South Africa; the South African airline industry; and the risks associated with online transacting was reviewed. The empirical study then examined the selected websites. The results of the literature review and the empirical study revealed that there is a need to be concerned about security when transacting online; however, this concern is greatly lessened by the current security features available for online transacting. What was also found is that
there is more that can be done by some of the websites in the study to further decrease the risks to which the users of these websites are exposed.
