Abstract
In the first chapter of this research report, the aim and objectives, along with the background of this research study and its impact on society, have been highlighted. The first chapter of the study has helped, to identify various factors that negatively influence employees’ productivity. It has been observed that lack of employee efficiency affects engineering firms and reduces their revenue rate. Furthermore, the chapter also helped in assessing psychological intentions of South African engineers which can improve their thinking capabilities and work efficiency. For the literature review, numerous articles were consulted and the opinion of different authors on the issue have been highlighted to support the objectives of the research. In the literature review, different fruitful methods were discussed to provide support to the research paper. Chapter 2 has also helped in finding the presence of behavioral disturbances that affects performance of employees and reduces firm’s values. It has been observed that motivation can help them to conduct work effectively and achieve organizational objectives. Furthermore, lack of proper management of work has also been another reason behind increase of troubles in engineering firms. Henceforth, motivating employees by assessing their creativity and learning skills can help in increasing their ability and performance rate. Chapter 3, the research methodology, gives an in-depth review on how the research was carried out. The application of the research methodology helped to conclude the factors that influenced motivation among the South African engineers. Chapter 4 provides the analysis of the results based on the primary data collection. Through both qualitative and quantitative data analysis, the motivating factors were identified. It has been found that proper salary structures and compensation can help to motivate the engineers. Both the survey and interviews that were conducted were discussed in this chapter to understand the motivating factors of engineering management. Chapter 5 focused on analysing the quantitative and qualitative data that was gathered after the interviews and surveys. The section focused on finding the motivational as well as demotivational factors, which influence the completion of the projects of the engineers. Furthermore, the importance of training and communication was evaluated along with how employees’ thoughts can be improved concerning their career development iv Chapter 6 provided a discussion of the findings of the survey and interviews, based on the importance of motivation, training and career development for engineers in South African organisations. Chapter 7 of the study has helped in concluding the importance of motivation and effective managerial skills of higher authorities to motivate employees with their work process. It also helped to conclude the negative influence of job insecurity that decreases ability of engineers to work effectively for the organization. It is recommended to apply suitable leadership style in order to keep employees motivated and improve their communication skills. Moreover, regular interaction within team members can also help proficiency in accomplishing organizational goals.
