Abstract
In satellite communication, it is common practice to assume that the transmission channel is Gaussian and does not display impulsive characteristic. Therefore, the link performance computation is conducted assuming that the noise collected at the receiver front-end is Gaussian. The majority of link budget tools employ a simplistic channel model – Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) to predict the performance of the satellite link.
