Abstract
It has been perceived that the COVID-19 pandemic has transformed many fields and sectors including the education sector. Many higher education institutions had to introduce educational technologies in order to adapt to the new normal. It is this trend that prompted the research into exploring lecturers’ perceptions and lived experiences on the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) during the COVID-19 pandemic at a University of Technology (UoT). The study is aimed at investigating the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) lecturers’ perceptions and lived experiences on the Blackboard Learning Management System during the COVID-19 and determine the kind of effect the LMS has on the learning and teaching practices. Consequently, the primary research question was raised i.e., (i) How do lecturers at a University of Technology experience the Blackboard LMS in their online teaching and learning practices during a pandemic? The sample of the study is 10 ICT lecturers from the Vaal University of Technology however, 9 participants participated in the study. Interviews was be used as the research tool.
