Abstract

The main aim of the study is to develop guidelines (based on the findings of the research)
from an educational psychological perspective to enable teachers to help non-English
speaking parents-to support their children at home with the emotional problems that they
may experience as a result of their limited English proficiency.
In order to achieve the above, the study includes the following sub-aims:
to explore and describe teachers' perceptions on the emotional problems of
their grade one limited English proficiency learners in a culturally diverse class.
to explore and describe parents' perceptions of their LEP children's negative experiences in a culturally diverse class.
