Abstract
Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women of all races. In South Africa, one in 25 women is at risk of developing breast cancer in their lifetime. As a measure for early detection of breast cancer, the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) recommends that women should perform monthly breast self-examination (BSE) following their menstrual period from the age of 20 years.
