Abstract
The study is based on the street vendors in Gauteng province. It investigated the supply chain challenges faced by fresh produce street vendors. The fresh produce concentrated mainly on the trading of fruits and vegetables to the public by the street vendors. The study, therefore, focused on the supply chain constraints faced on transportation and storage as well as coming up with applicable solutions. The investigation was done in transport and storage in Kerk Street, Von Brandis, and Noord in Johannesburg, South Africa. The study was therefore motivated by insights that Supply Chain Management encounter as problems looking at the processes involved during transportation and storage of fruits and vegetables sold in Kerk Street, Noord, and Von Brandis. Supply Chain Constraints such as deliveries for fresh produce are facing challenges of time management as well as poor carrying capacity. The storage of fresh produce is also challenged as there are no storage units hence this causes damage to the product to be sold. Therefore, these are the main challenges that lead to the failure of effective operations hence leading to a generation of inadequate income.
