Nanoparticles are microscopic particles that are measured on a nanoscale; the
particle has at least one dimension which measures between 1 nm and 100 nm.
Bimetallic nanomaterials are made up of two different metal element nanoparticles.
These materials have a unique physical appearance and chemistry sequence and
they perform enhanced functions of both individual metals. In nanomedicine,
nanoparticles are being applied to diagnose, treat and prevent disease, trauma and
pain, in order to improve human health. Homoeopathic remedies are derived from
mineral, botanical or animal sources and produced using a characteristic method of
dilution and trituration (potentization).
The Top-Down method of nanoparticle manufacturing is very similar to the
potentization procedures used to manufacture homoeopathic remedies, and
nanoparticles of the original starting substance have been shown to be present in
single homoeopathic remedies of various dilutions. Nanoparticles have however, to
date, not been investigated in homoeopathic complexes, and their investigation
potentially provides a means of comparing the different manufacturing techniques
applied to the production of complexes specifically.
The aim of this study is to investigate the presence and size of nanoparticles in ultrahigh
dilutions of Argentum metallicum and Aurum metallicum through the use of a
Transmission electron microscope (TEM) and Energy dispersive X-ray
spectrometry (EDX).
A quantitative, experimental, pilot study was performed. Individual remedies of
Argentum metallicum 30cH (Sample A) and Aurum metallicum 30cH (Sample B)
was manufactured according to methods outlined in the German Homoeopathic
Pharmacopoeia (GHP). A complex of these two remedies was also prepared using
two different manufacturing techniques: 1) the two individual remedies were
manufactured separately up to a 29cH in 30% ethanol, added together and then
potentized up to a 30cH potency Complex 1 (Sample C); 2) the two individual
remedies were manufactured into a 6cH potency in 30% ethanol, added together...
