Abstract
This qualitative study employs intersectional feminist and social constructionism frameworks to investigate how the South African government can leverage the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) to promote economic empowerment among rural women in Limpopo. The research explores the unique experiences, challenges, and opportunities faced by these women, shedding light on their underrepresentation in science and technology fields and limited access to digital technologies. Through thematic analysis, this study identifies potential 4IR opportunities for women in the Limpopo region and provides policy recommendations for government interventions. The findings underscore the importance of inclusivity, highlighting the agency of rural women's voices in shaping the 4IR discourse. This research contributes to global efforts towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and informs strategies for addressing the digital divide and promoting economic empowerment among marginalised women, highlighting the agency of rural women's voices in shaping the 4IR discourse.
