Abstract
This study describes the fabrication, characterization, and evaluation of salt rejection ability and antifouling properties of anionic polyethersulfone membranes blended with quaternized carbon nanotubes (QPES/QCNTs) composite membrane. The membranes were prepared by blending trimethylamine quaternized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (QCNTs) with chloromethylated polyethersulfone as a membrane matrix. The composite membranes were then soaked in a trimethylamine solution to quartenize the PES, thereby forming anionic PES/QCNTs membranes. Quaternized CNTs were dispersed in a chloromethylated PES polymer solution at different concentrations of QCNTs (0, 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt.%) were added to the aqueous solution to make a QPES/QCNTs nanocomposite membranes...
