Abstract
The White Paper 6: Building an Inclusive Education and Training System provides (EWP6) guidelines and principles by which Special Needs Education should be conducted. One of the guidelines is the establishment of School-Based Support Teams (SBSTs) in schools. The SBST is an internal support system at schools for learners with learning disabilities. Following the issuing of EWP6, schools were expected to have functional SBSTs that comprised management, educators, parents or caregivers, community members, and learners where applicable.
