The general aim of this research is to probe the perceptions of educators in the Free State about their work ethic.
In order to attain this aim, the following objectives need to be accomplished, namely to:
• clarify what is understood by the concept 'educator work ethic'
• discuss possible factors that could have an impact on the work ethic of educators
• probe the perceptions that educators have regarding their work ethic
• provide strategies to assist principals in developing a good work ethic among educators.
