Abstract
Leadership within contemporary organisations is critical for the appraisal of capital and human resources that are actively adopted for facilitating organisational success. While globalisation and modernisation have significantly contributed to increased workloads in general business operations, effective management of human resources requires the extensive consideration of the welfare status of employees. The increasing workloads and engagements within personal and business endeavours greatly influence the emotional state of being among individuals. Through an extensive exploration of the emotional status of leaders in a multi-national mining company, the research explored the aspects of emotional wellbeing, spiritual connectedness, the impact of emotional dis-ease on spirituality and the influence of spiritual connectedness on overall wellbeing.
By implementing a qualitative approach to research, the study performed distinctive sampling of leaders at a multi-national mining company for an interview process. Results from the analysis of response data indicated a significant association between the emotional and spiritual life dimensions. While spiritualism reflects the belief system, inner sense of belonging and connection with a supreme being or higher-order capacity, the engagement of individuals in spiritual practices and actions was established to enhance spiritual connectedness and improve the state of emotional wellbeing. Spirituality endorses an individual’s awareness of perception and purpose of life, which significantly enhanced the assessed participants’ capacity to endure stress and emotional dis-ease arising, while also staying engaged within the workplace settings. The spiritual connectedness of individuals greatly improved the welfare of the individuals due to the capacity of spirituality to influence an individual’s life direction, decision-making, and general approach to various life situations and experiences.
