Abstract
In South Africa, the agricultural sector plays a very vital role and is central to fostering economic growth and improving food security, as well as reducing the rate of poverty (Lennartsson, 2019). Over the years, there has been a radical increase in environmental pollution and distress; plants, crops and drinking water are being contaminated with many harmful and toxic compounds. Plant germination and growth can be affected by a variety of factors under natural and environmental conditions; pesticides and chemicals are commonly used amongst crops and contain heavy metals, such as arsenic trioxide (As2O3), and many other chemical compounds. This adds to environmental pollution as it contaminates the soil and vegetation. Human consumption of these contaminated substances result in harmful effects on the health of human beings, which include carcinogenic effects, and many systemic and metabolic disorders (Alkorta et al., 2004; Saeed et al., 2021). From the late 20th century, agrohomeopathy (agricultural homeopathy) has proven many benefits for plant growth, such as the eradication of biotic and abiotic stress on plants in a non-toxic way, and making plants resistant to pests and harmful side effects of chemicals (Mazón-Suástegui et al., 2019). Experimental studies in the area of homeopathic experimental research widely make use of plants as a platform to discover scientific and fundamental elements necessary for advancements in homeopathy. Isopathy, as a branch of homeopathy, acts an essential tool in eliminating the effects of a toxic substance by making use of the same toxic substance as the remedy prepared in high dilutions. Many studies have been conducted on the isopathic treatment of the remedy Arsenicum album in various potencies on wheat seeds which have been contaminated with As2O3. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of isopathic Arsenicum album 6 cH treatment on the growth of wheat seeds that have been previously contaminated with As2O3, by evaluating the germination rate and shoot length...
