Abstract
The dissertation seeks to examine the relationship between innovation and firm-level export intensity with the use of pooled ordinary least squares (OLS) and a Tobit regression on a cross-sectional dataset of the year 2016. The study contributes to the literature by investigating the relationship in three southern African countries. We further investigate the impact of innovation activities on direct as well as indirect firm-level export intensity. Our results indicate that the simultaneous adoption of product, as well as process innovations (Prodproc), has a positive effect on direct firm-level export intensity.
