Abstract
The purpose of the project was to calculate the intensity of the sun and to
simulate the sun's altitude.A computer programme (including a correction factor for the effects of
altitude) was written to calculate the values of the intensity of the sun
and a heat exchanger was built to verify the results experimentally. Tests
were done with the heat exchanger at right angles to the sun and the
difference in temperature between the inlet and the outlet of the heat
exchanger was used to calculate the intensity of the sun.
A model was designed to simulate the suns altitude at any given time of
the day and at any chosen place in the country...
