Abstract
Crystalline silica is a basic component of soil, sand, granite and many other minerals. Occupational exposure to crystalline silica dust occurs in many industries including; quarrying, mining, mineral processing through activities such as drying, grinding, bagging and handling amongst others. Basically, where concrete, stone or sand based materials are used there is a potential for exposure to crystalline silica dust. Crystalline silica exposure is mainly known for its association with silicosis which is an incurable but preventable disease.
