Abstract
According to the Sustainable Development Goals, it is every human being’s fundamental right to have access to clean potable water, sanitation, and a safe environment to improve their livelihoods and welfare. It is for this reason that government departments develop plans and construct infrastructure to ensure that this fundamental right is realised. The construction of water infrastructure only realises half of the fundamental right, with the other half being realised if the environment is safeguarded and protected for future generations.
